Obituary of Tina Marie Casey

Tina Marie Casey, 51, of Saint Paul, passed away on September 23, 2024 after a seven-year long battle with Early-Onset Alzheimer’s Disease.

Tina was born on September 17, 1973 to Glen and Barbara Mertens in Saint Louis, Missouri. She and her sister Lisa enjoyed their childhood swimming, making new friends and being with family. Tina was a bright and talented student receiving a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Saint Louis University.  

At university, she met and married John Lesch and moved to Saint Paul, Minnesota where her only child, Alice Lesch was born. Tina and John parted ways amicably and in May of 2008, Tina married Paul Casey.  Paul and Tina had 16 wonderful years together; even renewing their wedding vows in 2023.  Paul and Tina spent all their time together and shared a love of all things Saint Paul, going on walks, traveling around the world and supporting Alice with school, sports and home improvement projects.

Tina was one of a kind and loved by so many wonderful friends and family that will continue to remember her incredibly positive and energetic outlook on life.  She is preceded in death by grandparents Oscar and Marie Mertens and William and Irene Trunko. She is survived by her husband Paul, her daughter Alice, her parents Glen and Barbara Mertens, her sister Lisa (Jimmy) Dodd and her three nephews Luke, Samuel and Cole Sudekum.  Tina’s family also sends a special thank you to Linda Harms and Cherie Johnston who were Tina’s constant companions and wonderful caregivers to the end.

Funeral service will be held at Saint Thomas More Catholic Church in St. Paul on October 10, 2024 at 11am.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Como Friends.
