Cremation Services

Cremation has become an increasingly common choice in our country today. If you or your loved one have chosen cremation, it’s important that you know you’re not limited to how you can honor a loved one. Cremation offers just as many – if not more – options for friends and family to honor and celebrate their loved one’s life. Holding a funeral or memorial service in a place that held value in their life, whether at home, in a chapel, or someplace special, are some of the options available with cremation. There are also many permanent memorialization options available to families who choose cremation.

If you are unfamiliar with the cremation process, our expert staff can help guide you through every step to ensure your loved one is cared for with dignity and respect. And because we own our own crematory, your loved one never leaves our care.

Cremation Options

At Cremation Society of Minnesota, we offer various cremation and simple cremation options to fit every family’s needs and budget.

Visitation and Viewing

Many families take comfort in a viewing or visitation period prior to cremation. We offer caskets for rental and complete services to prepare your loved one, such as embalming, dressing, and applying cosmetics. You may choose to have a memorial service with an open or closed casket.

Memorial Services with Cremation

As a ShareLife provider, we can create a one-of-a-kind memorial service before or after the cremation, depending on whether you want to display your loved one’s ashes.

Simple Cremation

Simple cremation is the most basic form of cremation. After your loved one is brought into our care, we perform a cremation and return the ashes to you in the urn of your choice. There is no visitation or viewing beforehand. Simple cremation is an affordable, dignified option that still allows you to memorialize your loved one.

Flameless Cremation Services

An alternative to flame-based cremation, Flameless Cremation is an eco-friendly, gentle process that uses water, temperature, and pressure to duplicate what happens naturally in decomposition.  Just like in traditional flame-based cremation, the loved one’s ashes are returned to the family for memorialization.  The flameless cremation process uses less energy, has zero emissions, and leaves a smaller carbon footprint.

Traditional Services Followed by Cremation

In some cases, a loved one or their survivors wish for a traditional service with viewing before cremation. This allows family and friends the opportunity to view their loved one in a casket prior to cremation, while keeping the expense lesser than that of traditional services requiring cemetery property and other additional services.

Burial Services

Traditional burial services allow family and friends the opportunity to view their loved one in a casket prior to placement in a chosen cemetery. When traditional burial services are chosen, our licensed funeral directors will assist the family in making all necessary arrangements with the chosen cemetery.

Life Celebrations

A life celebration allows family and friends time to gather and find support from other friends and loved ones while sharing memories and unique stories in a less formal setting. In many cases, the loved one’s remains are not present; it is simply a time to display pictures, share stories and uniquely celebrate a life well-lived. Many life celebrations take place weeks or even months following a death, no matter whether cremation or traditional burial services are chosen.

Shipping Services

If a death occurs away from home, our licensed funeral directors will assist your family in the process of returning your loved one home safely. The process and costs associated with these services will differ, depending on the state or country where the death occurs.
