Obituary of Lorraine Mae Carlson
Carlson, Lorraine Mae “Ainy”, of Edina, MN, passed away on July 24, at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital.
Lorraine was born on September 7, 1925, in Wanamingo, Minnesota, to Louis and Marie Brislance. She graduated from Wanamingo High School in 1943 and went on to study at Winona State Teachers’ College. Nicknamed “Bris,” she played trumpet and piano, enjoyed sports, and her favorite color blue.
She met Jeroy Carlson during high school in Wanamingo. They married in 1947 and together enjoyed a lifetime of fishing, golfing, and birdwatching. Lorraine worked at Augsburg University for many years. She was an active volunteer as well as a board member with Adopt-A-Village in Guatemala for which she knit hundreds of sweaters for impoverished children.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, James and David Brislance; parents-in-law, John and Clara Carlson; and many dear friends.
Lorraine is survived by daughter, Elizabeth; son, Jon (Leslie); grandchildren: Alisa (Shawn) Loeblein, Dr. Andrea (Riley) Conway, Amy (Andrew) Wharton, Ashley (Matthew), Thomas; eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Mary Brislance and Michelle Brislance; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on October 4, at 11:00 AM, with family visitation at 10:00 AM, at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, 5025 Knox Ave. S.
