Obituary of Harriet V Ryan

Harriet Valerie Ryan,age 87, of Duluth peacefully passed away May 24, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth. She was born February 5, 1936 to Harry and Fern McKeebe of Pine River, MN.

Harriet married Lawrence “Larry” Ryan on June 11, 1960. Next month would have been their 63rd wedding anniversary.

Harriet was a faithful church attender and follower of Christ. She compassionately served over twenty years as an RN at St. Luke’s Hospital, spending most of her time on the pediatrics floor. She was known for her gifts of hospitality, advocating for others in prayer, as well as blessing many with her piano playing and singing. Harriet loved to visit the Rose Garden and Lake Superior. It brought her much joy to be in their beautiful yard tending her flowerbeds and watching the visiting birds, squirrels and deer while hearing the occasional aerial lift bridge and foghorn, while sharing a Coke on the swing set with her love.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Duane.

Harriet is survived by her loving husband, Larry; three children, Paul (Michelle) Ryan, Debra (Timothy) Pascoe, and Carol (Kevin) Scharnberg; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
