Wendy Davis Dar passed away peacefully in her home in Minnetonka, MN on 7/19/2017 from breast cancer and leptomeningeal metastasis.
The daughter of Carl D. Davis Sr. and Joan Anderson Davis, Wendy was born June 8, 1961 in Jeannette Pennsylvania.
Wendy graduated from Indiana Area High School. She received a bachelor of science in education in speech pathology and audiology from IUP and worked as a speech therapist in Halifax County, Virginia before pursuing a Masters in audiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a doctorate in Audiology from Arizona School of Health Sciences. In her 28 year career, Wendy worked as a clinical, educational and research audiologist, owning her own audiology practice the last 10 years.
Wendy is survived by her parents who reside in Greensburg, PA; her wonderful husband Barak Dar; three children, Talia, Lisa Dar and Maya Dar; three step children: Daniel Dar and wife Nina, Alexander Dar, Yasmine Dar and three grandchildren, all in Israel. She is also survived by her brothers Carl Davis, Jr and wife Stephanie and Eric Davis and wife Brenda all residing in Greensburg, Pa; an uncle, Reginald Davis and wife Nadine (Nadar), Irwin and an aunt, Betty (Bowman) Anderson, Keller, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Wendy was preceded in death by her grandparents: Reginald and Mary Etta (Murray) Davis, Herbert and Margaret (Rudolph) Anderson; two uncles: Gerald Anderson and Ross Davis and beloved sister Lisa Davis Howell.
Wendy would like to thank her Indiana High School 1979 classmates for their incredible support over the past two years. “You made this journey bearable”. Special thanks to: Lori Campbell Stern, Don Sherry, Mike Boswell, Anne Dale Cornwall, Marilyn Stahura Sullivan, Connie Tucker, Dr. Wonsuck Kim and Rebecca DeVinney Tittering.
In keeping with Wendy’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Memorial contributions can be made to Talia and Lisa Dar college education fund or by donating directly to a cancer patient. It is Wendy’s expressed wish that NO monies be donated to the American Cancer Society or the Susan G. Komen Foundation in her name given how little of the donations actually benefit the cancer patient.
