Kristine “Kris” Jo LaFleur 

08/29/1957 – 05/04/2022 

“A bright light who did not fully know her own importance in others lives” 

Kristine Jo LaFleur (Rubedor) passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 4th, 2022 at the age of 64. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, she was the loving daughter of DeWayne and Maurine Rubedor. Kris spent most of her life growing up in Minnesota, living many years in Hugo and more recently in North St. Paul. 

Kris was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, aunt and good friend. 

Kris earned her masters degree in social work at the College of St. Scholastica in 2013.  
She most recently worked for Hennepin County as a social worker where she was able to pursue one of her greatest passions - helping others, especially children. Her dedication was reflected in the amount of her personal time she spent making sure the people she was helping were being taken care of. She enjoyed her job and working with her co-workers. 

Later in life, Kris discovered her love for the California beaches where she would go as often as possible. Sitting on the beach, glass of wine in hand watching the sunset became her favorite pastime. She often talked about her next trip to the coast. 

Kris was preceded in death by her husband Jim LaFleur and brother Mark Rubedor. She is survived by her parents, DeWayne and Maurine Rubedor of Vadnais Heights, her sister Kathy (Dean) Crowell of Grand Rapids, Michigan, brother David Rubedor (Byron) of Minneapolis, Minnesota, nephew Daniel Crowell of Grand Rapids, Michigan, nieces Amber Becker (Greg) of Lindstrom, Minnesota and Katie Rubedor-Green (Adam) of St. Paul, Minnesota, many other cousins, great nieces and great nephews. Kris had many special relationships and friends, including long-time friend/roommate Chris Hansen. 

Visitation will be held Friday, May 13th at 4:00 pm at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, St. Paul Chapel, 1979 Old Hudson Road, St. Paul.
