Obituary of Donna Marie Davidson
Donna Marie (Myers) Davidson, 92, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at Augustana Health Center in Apple Valley, Minnesota. She was born in Lake City, Iowa on July 1, 1929 to William Myers and Opal (Hoffman) Myers. Prior to retirement, she was a receptionist and telephone operator at Reserve Mining Co. and sold Avon for many years in Silver Bay, Minnesota. She was a 1947 graduate of Lohrville High School in Lohrville, Iowa. She married Virgil Davidson, Jr. on September 3, 1949 in Lohrville, Iowa; they were married for 72 years.
Donna had many friends and was involved in activities such as Gardening Club and Reserve Women luncheons, and women’s volleyball. She was a fantastic cook and baker (and no one can make potato salad as great as hers). Her friends and family will remember her caring and generosity, her love and support of her family, and her beauty, both inside and out. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh. Virgil had a great sense of humor, too, and she was his best audience, even though she’d heard the jokes/stories many times. Donna loved music. She had a wonderful voice and could play the piano. She and Virgil loved to dance and were a joy to watch as they were so attuned to each other. She will be so very missed by her daughters to whom she modeled strength, independence, compassion, and much stubbornness.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Linda Davidson, South Sioux City, NE, and Lori (Nils) Hudyma, Lakeville, MN; 5 grandchildren: Jennifer (Brandon) McCune, and Luke Nelson, both of South Sioux City, NE, Nick (Amber) Hudyma, St. Francis, MN, Garett Hudyma and Kaitlin Hudyma, both of Lakeville, MN; and 6 great-grandchildren, Jack, Danny, Jenna, and Dylan McCune, Lincoln and Cash Hudyma; a brother-in-law, Jim Davidson and sister-in-law, LaDonna, Great Falls, MT, and sister-in-law, Eileen Myers, Webster City, IA. And, of course, her cat, Ginger, who gave her lots of company after losing Virgil 6 months ago.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Virgil; her parents; her brother, Donald Myers of Webster City, IA; and Queenie, their golden retriever, whom she adored.
Arrangements are being handled by the Minnesota Cremation Society. A beautiful service was conducted on Friday, March 18, 2022 by Pastor Julie at the Villa Assisted Living Facility in Apple Valley, MN. We encourage any memorials be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association.
