Bill was a true aviation pioneer, a mentor of many in the avionics field, and above all, a truly genuine person with few equals - and seemingly without an ego to get in the way.
I had the pleasure of knowing Bill from his Republic/Northwest Airline days, and the privilege of having Bill work for our company after he left Northwest.
I recall a meeting in Montreal with Canadian Marconi and KLM Airlines, when Bill stated something like: "I don't know much about the B747..." And I believe that if Bill didn't know it, "it" didn't need to be known - at least in our field.
He was truly a pleasure to work with, and I always felt that when it came to avionics and airplanes, all Bill had to do was get up in the morning and he was ahead of all the rest of us.
It is with sadness, but also joy that I recall al the memories of the past 30+ years. My heart and prayers go out to Birgetta, Jack and the family.
