I'll always remember how excited Frankie was to see her Daddy and how good he was with her. He was always a hard worker, very willing to help out with putting in and taking out our dock and help out around the house. He also made sure Jeff's kayak got a lot of use!! I am so sorry Derek lost his battle with this horrible disease - way too soon. He kept rising after the falls, and I hoped and prayed that he would overcome. It's comforting to know he is at peace now, though he will be missed - probably way more than he would suspect. I light a candle to all the good memories to hold in our hearts. We love you Derek.

I miss you already son, its only been a week since you passed but it feels like forever ago. You and your sister are my world and now half of my world is gone. Derek, you never gave up and always wanted better for you and your girls. I know your heart was heavy and in pain and i know you didnt want to leave us but we take comfort you no longer have worries and struggles and can be happy and joyous now. I am proud of you son and will always miss you, every day of the rest of my life my beautiful boy. Mom
