Obituary of Gloria Carpentier
With a heavy heart and much sadness I regret to announce the passing of my wife of 57 years. Gloria was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She went with the Lord on Nov. 28th 2020, surrounded by family and friends. She lost her 7 year battle with cancer.
Gloria was born on July 23rd 1943 to Herbert and Muriel Merritt. She graduated from Hermantown High School in 1961. She worked many jobs during her life and retired from Younkers in 2005. She was considered as an “Elite Volunteer” for Bentleyville as one of the “wagon ladies” for 11 years.
Gloria is preceded in death by her father Herbert, mother Muriel, niece Diana, father-in-law Charlie, mother-in-law Althea (Sis) Le Vasseur and a sister-in-law Mary Merritt.
Gloria is survived by her husband Bryan; sons Robert (Jenny Sue) and David (Risa); and daughter Wendy (Jeff) Gunderson. Also, grandchildren Zoe (Jared) Rentmeester, Kayla, Jacob, Skylar, Zachary, Rylee and McKenzie; sisters, Carol (Ed) Vest, Corie (Scott) Moncur; brother Greg Merritt; and her BFF Judi (Dick) Wunch- also her Wagon Ladies co-workers, Sue, Judy, Diana and Jill.
Services will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge of Minneapolis in memory of Gloria Carpentier. Over the course of her treatments for many years in Minneapolis, Gloria and Bryan spent many a night in this wonderful lodge.
