Obituary of Kenneth LeRoy Wahl

Kenneth LeRoy Wahl passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 14, 2020.

Kenny was born August 14, 1958 to Jan and Kenneth Wahl in Storm Lake, Iowa.  He went to Citrus College and received a degree in auto body.  He worked for several years in different shops around California until he opened his own shop in Whittier, CA before moving to Hackensack, MN.  While living in Hackensack he started North Country Trucks where he did what he loved most…fixing cars!  Kenny and his brother Danny also shared a love for wrecking cars, Demolition Derby!  Kenny started derbying in the late 90’s and continued until his retirement in 2018 when he was diagnosed with cancer.  During his time on the track, Kenny made many friends.  He was the first to shake your hand after a win or lose.  He always had a smile for you as well.  He was the first to lend a hand to a competitor so they could finish the race because we were all there to have a good time.  Kenny was lovingly known by derby friends as, “The Old Guy”.  Kenny wanted to put a huge shout out to his demolition derby family…go fast, hit hard and have fun!

Kenny loved his family and friends dearly.  He loved living on the “island” with Julie and spending many peaceful mornings taking in the lake and wildlife.  He loved fishing and taking a ride on his motorcycle.

Kenny is survived by special love, Julie Huseth; special son, Michael (Allison) Henschke; special daughter, Claire (Cody) Huseth; special grandchildren, Hallie, Connor, Keller, Brody, Caden and Caspen; mother, Jan Johnson; brothers, Rick Peters, and Daniel (Karla) Wahl; uncles, Don (Becky) Marsh and family, David Marsh and aunt Marylyn Bruce and family; nephews, Jamie and Erick Peters, Cody and Joseph Wahl; nieces, Emily Peters, Danielle and Anna Wahl and Kya (Jesse) Whirley.
