I met Scotty Moe years ago when I worked with Heidi. When I met him I knew immediately that he was a unique individual. I enjoyed his sense of humor and his approach to life in general. Heidi, I am sincerely sorry for your loss. May the happy memories and endless stories help you get through this difficult time.

I hadn't seen Scott for 18 years, but we managed to spontaneously catch up for a day in June and it was awesome to see him and Heidi at their home. He was the same old Scotty Moe - deeply cynical, ridiculously funny, fond of his beer, curious about what I'd been up to and the guarantor of a great time.
Building on the list of legendary Scotty Moe lines, here are a few more that stand out for me:
- "Old Navy - better than the New Navy!"
- "I'll do the dishes. I'll be sure they consent."
- "What part of Laos are you from?"
- 'Hey everybody!" (in a demented Pee Wee Herman type voice)
- "The Beatles suck!"
- "GAGAGAGAGA!" (This was the sound of an annoying parrot he once lived with)
- 'Naughty, naughty."
"Old friend Honda" was a banged up Civic and Scott's official ride in the mid 90s. It had a CD player and the CD inside was stuck, permanently. Thus whenever you rode with Scott you listened to Bob Marley's "Catch A Fire" album on a continuous, permanent loop. This made road trips to Madison from Minneapolis (4 hours) a bit repetitive when it came to music. Same for any ride in Old friend Honda. But Scotty didn't mind at all. In fact, as soon as we arrived at our destination in Madison for Halloween one year (he was a flasher), the first thing he did was scour his friend's vast music collection for the same Bob Marley CD. "I just had to listen to the rest of 'Stir it Up."
Scotty Moe definitely knew how to stir it up, and I already miss that and his unique friendship.
Rip in peace my friend and may you forever rock out like that Def Leppard drummer that you loved to impersonate.

Whoever wrote the obituary captured Scottie perfectly. He was always smiling and making inappropriate jokes and livening up the room. It was always a pleasure to see him and I know he will be missed a lot by everyone. Raising a beer to his memory tonight

I worked with Scotty for several years at Billy's, and like everyone who knew him, I loved him from the start. The barbacks were like our own little family within the larger Billy's family. We looked out for each other, and cracked each other up constantly. I was always happy to work a shift with Scotty, because he always brought positive energy, and could ALWAYS make me laugh. I was cracking up reading the obituary and remembering his catchphrases, especially "Think it ain't?" and "Ruh-roh." The after-bar was always the most fun, especially when Scotty would bring us to the PUB. What I remember too is that he was always interested in other people. He would ask me what was going on in my life, what my plans were, and that really meant a lot to me. This news has been like a gut punch, and very difficult to process. Sending big hugs to Heidi and the rest of Scotty's family during this painful time. We love you Scotty Moe.

I met Scotty many years ago on my American Travels. Scotty for me was truly one of the most awesome human beings I have met, although brief he had a big impact on my life and will always have a huge place in my heart. He showed me love and care and made me laugh until my sides hurt! Scotty was a unique person and one of a kind, and I think the world has lost a beautiful soul. May his light continue to shine in the lives he touched and may he Rest In Peace. Until we meet again.

I treasure the pictures that Scotty Moe took of my son, Henry, for his high school graduation.
Henry died three years later.
I recall going to Billy's On Grand to escape the home scene shortly after, and there he was!! He slid right into my booth and gave me the BIGGEST hug!
We lost a giant. Ruh-Roh!
Love and Mercy

One of my favorite memories of Scotty was when he received a drum set one Christmas when he was very young. From that moment, I knew his artistic and creative self would flourish as he became interested in guitar and photography. His gifts for his talents along with his love of their dog, Barley, was contagious. Scotty had a way to charm and humor us that also kept a smile on everyone's face. He will always be remembered.
