Obituary of Stanford D Nielsen

Nielsen, Stanford D. a resident of Webster, MN passed away peacefully on July 27, 2020 at the age of 68. He succumbed to a 20-month battle with complications from a major stroke.

On August 22, 1951, Stanly AKA “Better Looking Twin” was born to Duane and Mae Nielsen. Stan is survived by 3 siblings, Susan Nielsen of Prior Lake, Twin Brother Steve (Sandy) Nielsen of Prior lake, and Scott Nielsen of Minneapolis.

Stan grew up in Edina. Graduated from Edina High School in 1970. He attended the University of Minnesota. After college he was a Sales Manager for Jewel Brokerage, entrepreneur for retail and followed his true passion of working with his hands in real estate and construction, helping others in need.

Stan spent the last 25 years with his love Janet Hovland. They shared a love of animals, playing tennis, riding Harleys and being both partners in business and life. He was adored by Janet and her family.

Just like his mom, Stan had a way of holding court with his wild and crazy stories and contagious laugh. Stan had a zest for life and will be deeply missed by his friends and family.

Stan is also survived by his nieces, Michelle Wilhelm, Tina (Ryan) Van Hecke, Jennifer Nielsen, Kaitlyn Nielsen, 6 grandnieces, 1 great-grandnephew, cousins, many friends, and his dog Buddy and 3 rescue cats.

Proceeded in Death by his parents Duane and Mae Nielsen, his Uncle David Jorgenson, Aunt Elaine Cloud, Grandparents Rev. Einar and Beulah Jorgenson, Chris and Anna Nielsen.

The Family would like to give a special thank you to “The Warriors”, the dedicated crews at North Ridge Health and Rehab, North Memorial Hospital and North Memorial Hospice.

Due to COVID restrictions, a family only service will take place on Tuesday, August 11th, at 2:00 PM at Mount Olivet Church. Pastor Kurt Kalland will preside.
