I feel really blessed for my memories with Uncle Stan, AKA “The better-looking twin”. I can say that because my dad is his twin brother. Stan was fun to be around “unless you caught him in the middle of fixing something”. He told the best stories, gave the best gifts to his nieces, was always in trouble with Nanny (his mom); he was a real person. We may not have seen each other a lot but he showed up for so many of my important events; christening, graduations, wedding, etc. Those events were more special because of his contagious energy. Growing up, I loved how he got a rise out of his mom at family gatherings (do not put the twins together) and how he could make is family laugh. Half of his stories, I had to wonder; did this really happen or is he being sarcastic? He was always testing your brain. A few years ago, his mom called 911 because her oxygen was low. My dad had me run to her house to meet the paramedics. Stan arrived minutes later and before he knew how she was; he goes, so mom does this count as my weekly visit and jumped on the bed next to her? She laughed with her oxygen mask on and smiled; her eyes lit up. This is a prime example of how Stan was; make any bad situation lighter. The things I will hold dear in my heart is his love of animals, his humor, his strength, and his willingness to survive these past 20 months. He brought so many people together that we can now call family and friends. He has helped us look at life with more appreciation. Goodbye for now but not forever Uncle Stan. Thank you for the memories and the love. Even until your last breath; you were “the better-looking twin”. Love you and miss you! Your niece, Tina and family.
