Dale Oscar Larson

Dale O. Larson passed away peacefully on May 1, 2020. Born August 4, 1925, Aurelia, Iowa. Preceded in death by wife Lucille (Bong) of 56 years, parents Carl Oscar and Inez (Coombs) Larson and sister Carole I. Bistline. Family: daughters Lisa of Golden Valley, Karin of St Louis Park and Holly of St Paul, brother Harold of Cherokee, IA and sister Corrine Yates of Indio, CA. Graduate of Aurelia, Iowa HS and Iowa State University, Mechanical Engineer 1949. Worked at Maytag Newton, IA 1949; Sgt Army Ord. White Sands, NM 1950. He worked in computer research & development at: Engineering Research Associates, St Paul 1952; Maico, Minneapolis 1958; Control Data/Ceridian 1960-1989. Volunteer AARP Tax preparer 10 years. He was a wonderful Dad, and had an extraordinary life. He meant so much to his family and will be dearly missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date when a gathering is possible, hopefully in Fall 2020.

n lieu of flowers, if you care to make a donation to one of these two non profit organizations, it would be a fitting tribute to our Dad.  He was a serious genealogist, a lover of history, and an avid reader and library visitor.  These two small institutions are in his hometown of Aurelia, Iowa.  The Aurelia Heritage Society has a small museum that includes items from the Larson and Coombs sides of the family.  The Aurelia Public Library, while it didn't exist when Dad lived there, has a great digitized collection of all of the Aurelia newspapers.  Family members may be interested in checking out the many Larson's Store ads written by Dale's father, Carl Oscar Larson, in the 1930s and 40s at:
