Dale's mother was a 1st cousin of my father. I do not ever remember meeting Dale, but he and I have been in contact for the last few years via mail & email because we shared the same interest in the genealogy of our shared Coombs family. He provided me with so much information and I am eternally grateful for the information, but more grateful to have him as a cousin and friend. All my sympathy on your loss of a wonderful father. He will be deeply missed.

I met “Mr. Larson” back in the 1960s.... He was always so friendly and encouraging whenever I went to visit Lisa & Holly, and he stayed so friendly and encouraging over the years, including the last time I saw him in 2019. He also shared a love of jazz music with my Dad. They went to many jazz concerts together. He will be missed by so many!

Lisa, Holly and family,
I'm so sorry to hear of your dad's death. I enjoyed the few times I got to talk to him. He seemed to have lived a full life and was still enjoying reading a lot.
You're in my thoughts!
Peace,
Debra Blake

I have so many happy childhood memories of Uncle Dale, many of them from the cabin at Mt Washburn. He convinced my mom it was safe for me to row a boat all by myself on the lake when I was only 6 or 7! I attached a picture that always brings a smile to my face because my dad used to crack up every time he saw it. He thought it was the funniest thing that it looks like Uncle Dale has the longest arm in the world wrapped around his family. I am so thankful for my visit in June 2018 when I was treated to a delicious pulled pork meal and Uncle Dale showed me many old photos from his childhood that I had never seen and we talked about how scanning pictures was a common project we both did. It was also fun seeing the original Larson sign that hung in the store in Aurelia. He was such a kind, quiet man and he will be dearly missed.

Dale was my oldest brother. Not only did he do all of the “brother” things like taking me to the gravel pit to swim, playing catch, and letting me tag along-he was also a father figure. Dad died when I was 16. Dale taught me to drive, took me to college and walked me down the aisle when I married Tom. We have always been not just siblings, but friends. Our families stayed close too, with many visits throughout the years. We were both interested in family history and we shared information. I was so lucky to have had Dale as a brother and I will miss him.

One of the things Dad loved to do was fish. We found this photo and wanted to share it with you. When Holly was living in the Florida Keys, Dad, Mom, and Lisa visited. Dad loved to go on the charter fishing trips on the ocean when he visited. In this picture he's fileting "grunts" and red snapper we caught during the trip. When we got to the first fishing spot, thirty fisherpeople had their lines in the water, but it was Dad who caught the first fish, a big one. The mate clipped off the tail and jokingly handed him the piece of fin, telling him he'd have to keep that until the end of the trip in order to claim his fish. For a second Dad thought the guy was serious, and then laughed. After that, others caught a few, but Dad just kept reeling them in. In all, the three of us caught 20 fish, most of them Dad's. He had quite a knack for catching fish. This is one of our fond memories of Dad. -- Holly and Lisa Larson
