Obituary of Shirley Fern Cardinal

Shirley Fern Cardinal of Munger, age 89 passed away peacefully on February 10th 2020 in Phoenix Arizona with family present. Shirley was born on September 27th 1930 in Superior, Wisconsin to Elmer and Marie Ardell. Shirley grew up in Billings Park graduating from Superior Central in 1948. She married Erling Cardinal on October 29th 1949, whom she was married to for 33 years. Shirley spent most of her life in Duluth. Some of her favorite activities were camping, cooking, baking, canning, gardening and crafts. She loved spending time with family and friends. Shirley was a member of Craft Club, Birthday Club, Solway Senior Citizens. She enjoyed helping others by volunteering at Faith Lutheran Church on Maple grove road, bagging groceries at Ruby’s Pantry and helping with luncheons at Hope Lutheran Church in Brule, WI. Shirley was a loving and caring person to many. She spent her last happy 36 years with her loving partner Maynard (Pete) Jensen. They were snowbirds in the winter and spent 32 winters in Yuma, Arizona.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and husband Erling, son Richard (Dicky) Cardinal, brother Elmer Ardell Jr. and granddaughter Monica Cardinal. Shirley is survived by her partner Maynard (Pete) Jensen, her sister Aileen Edwards, and her children Katherine (Richard) Fox, Jean (Troy) Buczynski, Joy (John) Taraldsen, Mark (Tracy Hoven) Cardinal, David Cardinal and Maynard’s children Maynard Jr. (Wendy) Jensen, Lorie (Joe) Pajac, Darla (Doug) Magdzas and Daryl (Sandy) Jensen along with 21 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation Tuesday March 3rd from 2pm and will continue until the 3pm funeral service at the Cremation Society of Minnesota 4100 Grand Ave Duluth Minnesota.
