Obituary of Daryl "Felix" Fields

Daryl “Felix” Fields, age 68, of New Hope, MN passed away peacefully in his home Saturday, June 29, 2019. Daryl was born in 1951 in Denver, Colorado and was raised in Dawson, Minnesota, where he graduated from Dawson High School in 1969. He served in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1972. He moved to Minneapolis and two years later married his wife, Jean. They raised their 3 children in New Hope. He retired from his longtime employer, SuperValu, at 62.

Through the years, he enjoyed watching family and friends’ sporting events, playing softball, playing cards and spending time with his children, family, friends and neighbors. He especially had a soft spot for his dog, Molly, and 4 granddaughters.

Some of his favorite pastimes were pheasant hunting with family and friends in Dawson, the annual hotel/casino gathering with his friends and vacationing in northern Minnesota and South Dakota. We'll never forget his friendly personality, great sense of humor and his love of history and story-telling.

He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Adeline, siblings: David (Kathy), Linda (James) and Deborah (Larry); survived by wife: Jean, children: Becky (Lucas), Beverly and Byron; and grandchildren: Sophia, Soraya, Clara and Kate. Daryl was also blessed with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

A service with military honors will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery on Friday, July 26th, with the assembly line up beginning promptly at 11:15 AM.
