Dana and Cynthia House

Obituary of Dana and Cynthia House

House, Dana W and Cynthia J (Walstrom) It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Dana and Cynthia, both 71, after 50 years of marriage. Dana from Two Harbors, MN, the son of William and Gladys House. Cindy from Cloquet, MN, the daughter of Robert and Margaret Walstrom. Dana and Cindy met in 1965 and married in 1968. After Dana spent 2 years in the Marine Corp, Cindy taught high school English while Dana started an accounting firm, House & Nezerka, eventually becoming what is today the Mpls office of Baker Tilly. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage and spent a life with friends and family. Dana and Cindy were grounded in their faith and were active members in both Peace Lutheran Church in Bloomington, MN and Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Goodyear, AZ. They felt a strong calling for service work and were board members, volunteers, and advisors for multiple charitable and community organizations locally, including VEAP, Cornerstone, and the Bloomington Rotary and internationally, Peace House Foundation (Africa) and International Village Clinic (India). They were both steadfastly determined that their lives would make a difference and they were known for their generosity. Outside of charitable works, Dana and Cindy spent their free time as members at MN Valley Country Club in Bloomington, traveling 5 continents of the world, and had an active social life, including being a part of their "bridge club", a group of close friends who have been meeting for 40 years. Their grandchildren will remember rides around in the golf cart in AZ, walks in the woods in MN, and Cindy's tireless efforts to ensure everyone in their lives felt cared for and to make the world a better place for everyone they encountered. They will be dearly missed by their daughter, Janet (Brian) Boie; son, Darren (Yvonne) House; grandchildren, Alexis House, Alexis Preese, Austin House, Jared Violette, Cody Boie, Hailey Boie, Logan Boie, and Rhett House; sisters, Julie (Robert) Olson, Mary (Al) Torstveit, Gail Grove; and countless other relatives and friends. Funeral service Saturday, January 26, at 3 PM. Visitation Friday, January 25, from 5-7 PM and also one hour prior to service on Saturday. Reception to follow service. All at Peace Lutheran Church, 8600 East Bush Lake Road, Bloomington. Memorials preferred to VEAP (Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People). Peace Lutheran Church 952-944-6510
