Obituary of Sharon Ann Wikoff

Sharon Ann Wikoff, 75, of Edina, known to family and many friends as “Sherry,” died peacefully at home on Sunday, November 4, 2018.  She was born October 14, 1943 in Boscobel WI and raised in the Madison WI area.  She graduated from Monona Grove High School where she met and started dating her husband Wallace L. “Lee” Wikoff.  They were married June 10, 1967 and moved to San Diego, CA after he was commissioned as a Navy officer.  That is where her children Ruth Wikoff-Jones of Minneapolis, MN and Peter Wikoff of Oak Park, CA were born.  She also lived in Honolulu, HI before the family returned to the midwest in 1978.

Despite being in a wheelchair from having had polio when she was 10 years old, she lived life to the fullest and with joy.  She loved being a mother as well as being a grandmother to her grandson Zachary Jones of Minneapolis.  To many of her children's friends, she was known simply as “Mom.”

Sherry worked for more than 25 years in the insurance industry, where she worked her way up from the most basic entry level position in the underwriting department to positions as a supervisor and trainer.

She was an avid reader who loved tigers, birds, outdoor activities and traveling. After retiring, she volunteered as a concierge at the Guthrie Theater for a decade before she became extremely ill from pneumonia.  The story of her recovery and return home is at http://mnaging.org/News/Sherry.aspx.

Sherry is survived by her husband, children and grandson, brothers Mark (Patty) Minter, David Minter, sister Jackie Patt, daughter-in-law Colleen Keene as well as two sisters-in-law and several nephews and nieces.

At her request, there will not be a memorial services.  There will be a private interment of her ashes.
