Jay was the best ski instructor a kid could ask for; and the # 1 reason why I became an apprentice ski instructor @ Blizzard Ski School. He was there when I made “Top Black” in 1992. To say Jay changed the lives of a 1,000 kids would be a gross understatement of the breadth of his impact. It’s easily more than 10,000. So Jay, tell us there’s a bluebird milk run in heaven, no lift lines, and Jesus lets the kids have 1st tracks. #TheBestOfTheBest

Jay was my college roommate at Mankato State back in the 1980's. He was a kind and decent man who treated people well. When people met him, they liked him immediately. Jay had a quick sense of humor, but never in an unkind way. Even when his jokes were bad (and let's admit, sometimes they were), his laughter was genuine and contagious.
I remember him going home during some weekends to work at the ski school. Although it was clear he loved skiing, It was clear he was really going home to see his parents and siblings. At school, he loved fencing. He would come to the dorm room sweaty after his practices. Jay also loved spending time with his friends at the dorm - Jeff Stokfiz, Mark Wiggins, and John Irber. They were a tight group, but they would always invite me to join them when they went to dinner or even to a bar. They always made me feel welcome.
Jay was also a serious student who had a vision for what he wanted. I remember him going over to the Computer Science building and working until late into the morning to get projects done. But more than a career or a degree, he wanted a family. He wanted to share his life with a wife and children. At the time, he didn't know who that would be. However, he knew that having that as part of his life was important.
About the time I graduated, he started dating Linda. I could tell it was serious. He was falling fast for this new woman that became his wife.
After I left Mankato, I didn't see Jay very often. Later we kept in touch over Facebook. About three years ago, I got to see him, Linda and Jared when they visited my new hometown in Tennessee. It was so good to see him and Linda, and meet his son. I was so happy for them to visit my home and meet my wife Katharine. Jay's sense of humor and kindness was exactly as I remembered it. His adult son reminded me of his father when we were that age.
I was so sad to hear that Jay had passed. Whenever someone dies at such a young age, we ask the question "why did he die?" We know we can never really answer that question. However, we can answer the question "why did he live?" His life made the world a better place. He touched people with his kindness. He helped people be better because he was a good man. The ripples of who he was will continue in all of us who were touched by him. I will miss him.

Liisa my condolences to you and your family You and your family are in my prayers in our heart and mind. My condolences on the passing of your brother Jay Richard Rasula but the good news he is in heavan if he knew Jesus as Lord and Saviour and put his trust in Him John 14:2
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 2 Corinthians 6-10 verse 6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. God Bless You And Your Family On The Loss Of Your Brother Family Member Liisa Rod Barb Gowler Rowlett Texas.

Jay and I laughing and freezing in Delhi, India (coldest temps in 44 years and I didn't bring a coat with me). Everyone wanted their picture with him, not all three of us, just him, so of course we had some good laughs at that too.

Jay was full of life and would make one feel comfortable in every conversation. I always used to wonder and admire how a senior leader brings such jollity at work! He could really find humor in every situation. He had a contagious personality- the one of a true leader. I used to sit near his office in India and have memories of sharing laughter with him. I’ll always remember Jay and all my conversations with him.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Jay and I shared a fondness for the annual Agate Days in Moose Lake. More specifically, our fondness was in people watching at the Great Agate Stampede. We marveled at the crowd!!
Jay was quick to smile and maybe more importantly, quick to make others smile. He brought fun and lightheartedness into the workplace.
May the love and closeness of family and friends sustain you through this difficult time.

It is with heavy heart that I offer my deepest and most sincere condolences. I was in disbelief yesterday upon first hearing of this sad news. Jay had an infectious laugh and was always fun to be around and share stories. I don’t remember the first time I met Jay, but can remember a lot of fun times throughout high school, playing in the band and just hanging around. We would occasionally car pool together to school and from school and laugh about the thin chain he used to keep the doors to his AMC Hornet closed. We survived though. Thanks to Facebook, we stayed connected sharing our busy lives. Jay will be missed.

Linda, Marissa and Jared - My deepest sympathy to all of you. I struggle to find the words to express how saddened I am with Jay's passing and words that might provide some comfort. He had a beautiful soul, the biggest heart and a sense of humor that made me laugh until I cried. He was my leader for so many years but he was also my friend, mentor and support system when things got tough. He had such an impact on so many lives and a genuine caring for people. I will miss him terribly. I pray for God to give you comfort and strength during this difficult time. Please know that he was loved by his work family and friends and so many of us are better people because he was part of our lives.
