Obituary of Melida R Pryor

Melida R. (Niemi) Pryor, 95, of Duluth, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, June 6, 2015 in Duluth. Melida was born on Nov. 3, 1919 in Bismarck, N.D., to John and Esther Niemi. Most of her life was spent in Duluth having moved from Chicago in the early 40's. Final days were spent surrounded by loved ones sharing stories and adventures. The love for birds and nature was enjoyed in her beautiful back yard. Deer visited annually in great numbers on her birthday. She enjoyed projects on her house, crocheted many Afghans for family, loved doing crosswords, playing checkers and was unbeatable at Scrabble. Earlier in life she owned and operated two restaurants with her husband. She also wrote her family's life story. We all enjoyed family times at her house over the years. She was a woman of Faith in God, loved reading her bible and was filled with love and gave people the support they always needed. She will be missed by all! She was preceded in death by her mother and dad; husband James; daughter LaVerne; brothers, Milford and Hardie; sisters, Arlene (Walter) and Doris (Edward); niece Barbara and great-granddaughter Layna. Melida is survived by her daughter Geri (Norm) Bourdage; son Kevin (Michelle) Pryor; step-daughter Jean Morgan; 10 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; sisters Bea Seppanen and Dolly (Jack) Wellington and many friends.
