Cindy S. Stafne, 68, of Duluth, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Solvay Hospice House. Cindy was born in Mora, Minn. on May 16, 1947 to Benjamin and Ruth Van Reese. She grew up in Duluth where she met and married her husband Bob of 53 years in November, 1962. She raised her family in Duluth and then later in Silver Bay. She was an inspirational spirit who touched many lives with her unconditional love. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and made everyone around her feel at ease. She was a wonderful wife, mother and nana. Her pride and joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. She had endless energy and tried and accomplished many things. She excelled at many jobs from Deputy Registrar in Silver Bay and Roseville, tour guide at Split Rock Light House and health coach at Silver Bay Clinic. She went back to school at age 50 to become a licensed massage therapist and opened her own business, Healing Touch Message Therapy, in Silver Bay and Duluth. Her ability to make people feel better through massage gave her great joy and satisfaction. She was a crafter, quilter, gardener, photographer and water color artist. She spent the last 10 winters in Florida with her husband Bob enjoying the warm weather, playing golf, spending time with friends and walking the beach. She is preceded in death by her parents Benjamin (Buck) and Ruth Van Reese, and Sister Judy (Ken) Lawlor. Cindy is survived by her husband Robert (Bob); sons Troy, and Cory (Kirsten); grandchildren: Christopher, Brionna, Austin, and Nicholas; sisters Connie (Edward) Carl and Karen (Laverne) Bail. She fought a very courageous battle with brain cancer the last 15 months and she reluctantly finally had to surrender. Now she will be busy organizing the angels in heaven. Thank you to all the staff at the Solvay Hospice House for the excellent care they gave to Cindy and family.
