Obituary of William Grover Sorenson

William Grover Sorenson, age 86, of Chaska, MN, formerly of Minnetonka and Carlton, MN. Born January 28, 1929 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN to Carl Grover Sorenson and Violet Belle Watt Sorenson. Passed away June 8, 2015. Bill served in the United States Marine Corps., stationed in China. He was lifelong employee in the marketing and sales industry, retiring from Minnegasco in 1996. Bill is preceded in death by his parents; adult sons, Steven and Scott and beloved yellow lab, Shami. He is survived by wife, Sheila Whalen Sorenson, children: David, Jim, Jane Elizabeth and Tracy (Tego) Venturi of NM; step-children, Tom (Kellie) Whalen of Carver, MN and Katy Whalen of Denver, CO; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings: Marylu (Tom) Young of Carlton, MN, John (Becky) Sorenson of Spooner, WI and Dick (Sally) Sorenson of Atlanta, GA; former wife, Pat Wagner of NM and many nieces and nephews. Bill loved the Lord, golf, wood working, friends and building projects. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Ave. S., Edina. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Ridgeview Hospice, 500 S. Maple St., Waconia, MN 55387.
