Obituary of Audrey A. Buckbee
Audrey Ida Erickson Anderson Buckbee, age 100, longtime resident of Friendship Village of Bloomington, passed away peacefully 6/9/2015. Born 6/3/1915 to Lars John Erickson and 2nd wife Anna Erickson, Audrey was in the 'second group of five' children. She grew up in Brainerd, MN. In high school she was gifted in sports and shorthand. After high school Audrey moved to Minneapolis. She had a chance to attend business college, and over the years worked as an executive secretary for law, accounting and investment firms, learning as much as she could along the way. She was introduced to and courted by another young Swede, Lloyd Frederick Anderson, and they married on her 20th birthday, June 3, 1935. They had three daughters, Janet, Patricia, and Jeanne. Always active in church and contributing their gifts of music, Audrey and Lloyd attended Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and later Richfield Lutheran Church. Later in life, when Audrey's spiritual studies led her in a different direction, she attended Unity South Church. Audrey loved music, and taught herself the piano, a gift she shared not only with her two husbands Lloyd and John, but with family, friends and the staff at Friendship Village. She began 'Sing-Along With Audrey,' a popular weekly event. She played for 'Happy Hour' in the Healthcare unit until she was no longer able. She and her second husband John made magic on the piano. At 72, she not only took ballroom dancing lessons, but also competed and won both events in her class! She loved golfing until age 92. She certainly got the most out of her body in its 100 years. Our beloved Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, daughter Patricia, and her husbands Lloyd F. Anderson and John C. Buckbee. She is survived by her loving angel/granddaughters Deidre Kellogg Ketroser (David) and Laurie Noren (Ken Braun), daughters Janet Kellogg (Paul) and Jeanne Klusewitz (Karl), 8 other grandchildren and spouses, 15 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild. Special thanks and gratitude to the wonderful staff at Friendship Village, as well as HealthPartners Hospice. A Celebration of Life will be held July 11th, 11:00am at FVB. A light lunch will follow. Memorials in her name are preferred to the ALS Association, the MS Society, or the Parkinson's Foundation.
