Obituary of Rae Ann Ness

Rae Ann Ness, 61, passed away with her family by her side on June 11, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital. She battled Ovarian Cancer for three and a half years, and fought hard until the very end. She had a determination unlike any other, and was an inspiration to everyone that knew her. Rae Ann was born in Superior on March 30, 1954 to William (Bill) and Joyce Zachau. She graduated from Superior Senior High School in 1972. Rae Ann worked for M&I Bank in Superior her entire career. She enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Brule, where she made new friends. Rae Ann loved tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, and was known for her homemade salsa and pickles. Ice fishing was also another of her favorite pass times. Her grandson, Reece, was her greatest joy. They created many special memories together. She was preceded in death by her husband Rick, of 40 years; father William (Bill); one sister Jill; and her grandparents. Rae Ann is survived by one daughter Lisa (Doug) Widmer; mother Joyce Zachau; sister Debbie (Randy) Burkhart; one grandson Reece; and six nieces and nephews. Gathering of family and Friends: 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday June 18 at the Cremation Society of Minnesota 4100 Grand Ave. Duluth.
