Obituary of Erick William Sutton

Erik William Sutton passed away on April 18, 2018. He was born on July 1, 1971 to William and Cheryl (Maki) Sutton. Erik grew up in the Woodland Neighborhood and graduated from Duluth East (1989). He Attended Lake Superior College and Fon Du Lac Community College. Erik worked many jobs until being hired by the Superior Fire Department in 1998. He served for 20 years working his way up to Battalion Chief. Erik loved the outdoors and spent some of his favorite times at the deer shack at Chris Lake with his dad and grandfathers. He shot his first big buck at age 12. Erik enjoyed archery and grew up traveling to tournaments all over Minnesota and Wisconsin with his parents. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents. Erik is survived by his wife, Kathryn; mother, Cheryl; in-laws, Gerald and Marilyn Skansgaard; cousins, Leah (Scott) Spicer and Dean (Cleora) Anderson, El Paso, TX; uncle, Jon (Carla) Maki, Lexington, KY; and numerous other relatives and friends. No services will be held at this time, but a celebration of his life is planned for this summer.
