Obituary of Vid Bucar
Vid Bucar, 70, long-time resident of Gary-New Duluth, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2015.
He was born in Slovenia on June 15, 1944 to Frank Sr. and Mary Bucar and came to the United States in 1959 at the age of 15.
Vid was a 1965 graduate of Morgan Park High School and served in the U.S. Army.
Vid worked at U.S. Steel and also sailed on the Great Lakes. He was part-owner of Bucar's Bar and Lounge in Gary-New Duluth.
He was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church and KSKJ Lodge No. 171.
Vid was an accomplished artist specializing in portraits. He had a love for animals and always served "treats" to the neighborhood pets. He was a beloved and entertaining traveler on his many trips to Slovenia and was an honorary member of the Singing Slovenes. His love and generosity for family and friends was unsurpassed. Most people knew him as "Uncle Vid" and he will be forever in our hearts and his memories and stories will live on forever.
Vid was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Andrew.
he is survived by brothers, Frank (Sharon) Bucar, of Duluth, John (Sharon) Bucar, of Perkasie, Penn.; and sister, Mary "Meech" (Dale) Koski, of Maple, Wis.; nieces and nephews, Barbara (Michael) Pazdernik, Brenda (Robert) Jacobs, Frank B. (Leslie) Bucar, Denise (Brandon) Owen, Paul Koski and Gina (Jeffrey) Millington, numerous grand nieces, nephews, and cousins in Slovenia.
VISITATION: 10 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015 until the 11 a.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial with Father James Bissonette officiating in St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Gary-New Duluth.
