Obituary of Clifford E. Jarvela

Clifford E Jarvela, 95, passed peacefully with members of his family at his side on July 2, 2015. He graduated from Grand Rapids, Minn., in 1938 during the great depression. On June 20, 1942, Clifford was inducted into the army. He was proud of his country and served until June 1945. Clifford was united in marriage to the love of his life, Bertha Maki, on Nov. 7, 1942. While raising two children, he was a District Manager for Midland Cooperatives, retiring in 1982. Wadena, Ironwood, Minong, Grand Rapids and southern Texas were special to Clifford and Bertha. Clifford was proud of his Finnish heritage and passed that on to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and time with his family and friends. He left many cherished memories for all who knew him. Clifford was preceded in death by his parents; wife Bertha, and son Dennis. He is survived by one daughter Diane (Larry) of Marion, Iowa; daughter-in-law Ann (Dennis) of Monclova, Ohio; four grandchildren, Amy Lynne, Melissa and Jim; seven great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the Pastors of St. Andrews Lutheran Church for their devotion to Clifford and the angels of Hospice who were so kind. Private memorial service will be at a later date.
