Obituary of Colleen E Allen

Colleen E. Allen, 81, of Duluth, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 with her daughter by her side. Colleen enjoyed a full career teaching for Proctor Public Schools and held a Master's Degree in Administration. Colleen believed "to whom much is given, much is expected", and inspired all who knew her to pursue their talents. Colleen enjoyed many artistic hobbies, including intricate embroidery and gourmet cooking. She spent most of her summers in the Grand Marais area, enjoying canoeing, fishing and family activities. Colleen is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 60 years, James Sr. and her son James, Jr. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Cynthia and her granddaughters Kathleen and Elizabeth whom she was so proud of and loved dearly. She was very devoted to her little dog Teddee. The family gives a heartfelt thank you to the compassionate and kind staff at Essentia Hospice and Solvay House. At Colleen's request, private inurnment will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. The family kindly requests no flowers. Arrangements entrusted to Cremation Society of Minnesota, Duluth, 218-624-5200
