Obituary of Scott William Sunderland

45, of Minneapolis, MN, and formerly Montoursville and South Williamsport, PA, Baltimore, MD and Arlington, VA, left this world all too soon on July 12, 2015. He was born in Williamsport on October 12, 1969. He graduated from South Williamsport Jr/Sr High School in 1988. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Air Force, serving 1988 – 1994. While serving, he earned a BS degree in Psychology from Pennsylvania State University in 1996. Scott relocated to Minneapolis in 2013 where he met and fell head over heels for his wife, Angela, whom he married on January 5, 2015. Scott was an amazing, loyal, loving, kind, and hilarious man who formed an incredible bond with every person he let into his life. He had an interminable love of animals, a passion for history and photography, and was a self-appointed comedic genius providing countless hours of entertainment to all. He was fervid with regard to his ancestry and the strong ties to the generations before him who served this beautiful country. Scott was also a member of American Legion Post 104 in Montoursville. Scott leaves behind his fur babies, Sally & Bella, wife, Angela (Grell) Sunderland, his parents, Donald Sunderland Sr. of Muncy, PA, mother Janet (Livermore) Shuck of Culpeper, VA, sister, Tanya (Berger) Shilling and husband Doug of Atlanta, GA, brother, Donald Sunderland Jr. and wife Lauri of Gainesville, VA, his in-laws Gary and Roxie Grell of Swanville, MN, sister-in-law Charlotte Grell and her fiancé Jason Hahn of Grand Rapids, MN, brother-in-law Alex Grell and his wife, Meg of Greeley, CO, nieces Jordan Shilling, Alexis Sunderland, Madison Sunderland, Brynn Sunderland, Olivia Sunderland, Emma Grell, nephews Austin Shilling, Matthew Hahn, Andrew Hahn, Baby Grell (October 2015) and many, many friends whom he held close to his heart, always. There will be 3 celebrations of life to ensure all those touched by his beautiful soul & spirit will have an opportunity to share stories and say goodbye. · The Minneapolis celebration will be held 4-8 pm on Monday, July 20 at The Minneapolis Cremation Society of Minnesota located at 4343 Nicollet Ave S in Minneapolis. · The Williamsport/Montoursville celebration will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 25 at the Spitler Funeral Home 733 Broad Street Montoursville. Scott’s aunt, the Reverend Lois A. Yeagle-Hungerford, will officiate. Burial to follow. · The Arlington celebration will be held 1-5 pm on Sunday, July 26 at American Legion Post 139 3445 Washington Blvd Arlington VA. Food provided.
