Obituary of Jerome Paul Loegering

Jerome (Jerry) P. Loegering, a resident of Browerville, passed away peacefully at his home, Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Jerry was born Jan. 19, 1940 in Todd County to Frank "Shorty" Loegering and Gertrude (Stephan) Loegering. Jerry graduated from Long Prairie High School in 1958. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Kinzel, Dec. 29, 1984. Jerry served as a machinist in the Air Transport division of the Navy at Patuxent River, Maryland from June 9, 1958 until his honorable discharge, June 8, 1962. Jerry owned four tractor semi trucks, which were leased to International Transport in Rochester. He drove one of his trucks for International Transport until 1977. He loved to tell many interesting stories about his over the road experiences. He purchased the Long Prairie Sanitary Landfill and garbage business in 1978 and ran the business until the landfill closed in 1989. Morrison County hired Jerry to manage and run their landfill and he enjoyed going to and working at the landfill part-time. Jerry enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the Yuma Gem and Mineral Club in Yuma, Az. He enjoyed his hobby of cutting and polishing rocks. He especially enjoyed using his wet grinder to polish large yard rocks. He also enjoyed the outings in the desert to look for rocks with the gem and mineral club. Jerry and Kathy enjoyed spending winters in Yuma, Az. Jerry is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife of 30 years, Kathy Loegering, Browerville; Sister, Angie (Roy) Meyer, Duluth; Sister Kathy (Lee) Konetzko, Browervillel; 3 nieces, Tracy, Kelly and Chelsey; 4 Nephews, Edward, Jacob, Perry, Paul; and many great nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, brother Roger, sister Rosemary and great-nephew Samuel White
