Obituary of Verma Lorraine Hansen
All of us lost a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Loyal Friend when Verma Lorraine Hansen passed away peacefully at Ebenezer Care Center in Burnsville on July 22, 2015. Verma was born June 24, 1926, to Carl and Christine Christensen in Tyler, MN. She lived on the family farm and attended the rural country school for 8 years. She graduated from Tyler High School in 1944. After graduation, Verma worked at the Red Owl Grocery Store, she also worked at Tyler Lumber Co. and Tyler Telephone Co. as office secretary.
Verma married Carlos Hansen August 26, 1951. They along with their 4 children made their home in Tyler and then 3 years in Appleton, MN, before moving to Cannon Falls in 1960. In 2005, Verma moved to Senior Living Apt. in Cannon Falls until May, 2015.
Verma ran a day care from her home before going to work at Kid Duds, where she worked for 15 years. She retired in 1980 to care for Carlos until his death in 1995.
She enjoyed the Homemakers Group that she belonged to, and worked at the Elementary School in Cannon Falls for the Grandparent Program. She loved crocheting and various crafts; she was very generous to share her talents. She sewed quilts and crocheted caps for babies for the Shepherd Center and Ronald McDonald House. She also crocheted prayer shawls for St. Ansgars Church.
