Obituary of Ervin Henry Meyer
Ervin Henry Meyer was born 2/23/24 in Burnhamville Township to the late Henry and Pauline (Mueller) Meyer. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Swanville, MN. He attended and graduated from Swanville School System. Ervin served in the U.S. Air Force stationed in Little Rock, Ark, overseas in Lyte, Gaum and the Phillipines. After his discharge he worked for Finn Insulating. In 1951 he began working at the Twin Cities Arsenal as a machinist. On June 17, 1951 Ervin married Betty Wass. They resided in Minneapolis where their son Michael and daughter Linda were born. In 1956 the family moved to the Lake Beuaty area where he farmed and continued to work in Minneapolis. Ervin decided to get a job closer to home and began working at Falls Machine and retiring from Hart Press. Ervin and Betty moved to Long Prairie in 1990. Ervin enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family, making wood crafts and spearing decoys. He is survived by his wife Betty of 64 years, son Michael (Colleen) Meyer of Long Prairie, Linda Meyer (Craig) of Clarissa; 8 grandkids Erin, Carrie, Julie, Joanie, Jon, Jene, Jessica, Jacquelyn.; brother in law Lester Mortensen; 22 great-grandkids and 2 great-great-grandkids. Preceded in death by Parents Henry and Pauline; sisters Grace (Lester) Mortensen, Laura (Arnold) Hartwig, Alice (Alvin) Johnson, and Louella (Edwin) Swanke.Memorial service Saturday August 15 at 11:00am at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 503 Berkey Ave, Swanville, MN.
