Michael Shea

Obituary of Michael Jon Shea

Michael Jon Shea, 61, was born May 26, 1954 to Joseph and Margaret (Egeland) Shea in Hibbing, Minnesota. He passed away peacefully at his home in Princeton on August 11, 2015, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with liver cancer. Mike was the fifth child of fourteen. He attended school in Hibbing and Princeton, MN. In 1972 he entered the Army. Specializing in communications, he served in Germany, Korea and Army bases in the U.S. until he completed his tour in 1977. He married Audrey George and they had two sons, Tom and Neil. On February 4, 1984 he was united in marriage to his soul mate, Jody Anderson and he welcomed her son, Jeremy, into his life. During their 31 years together they enjoyed metal detecting, gardening, canning, scuba diving, downhill skiing, snowshoeing and much more. Mike worked several years for the Bricklayers Union but was mainly self employed. As a master craftsman, stone mason and woodworker, his talent is evident from here to Washington state. With a gift of wit and humor, Mike was quick to tell a story, a joke, or zing in one of his famous one liners. He always lived life on his own terms, but his gentle spirit and willingness to help others gave him the opportunity to talk about his strong faith, passionately sharing the word of God and promise of salvation. Mike dearly loved his family and friends but the light of his life were his five grandchildren, Isaac, Ruby, Russell, Caden and Trevor. Mike is survived by his wife Jody; sons, Tom (Trina), Neil (Amy) and Jeremy Anderson; his mother Margaret Shea; siblings, Peggy Sanborn, Pat (Rosanne), Monica (Mike) Clark, Kerry (Kevin) Homstad, Coco Bradley, Laurie (Mike) Danger, Tammy (Terry) Uhrich, Sally, Kelly (John) Schneider, Tom and Chris (Camille); and many, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Shea; and brothers, Kevin and Tony. A memorial service will be held at New Life Church, Princeton, Saturday, August 22nd, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Blue Hill Cemetery at a later date.
