Obituary of JOHN F. KENDZORA

John F. Kendzora died Thursday, Aug. 13 at the Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born Oct. 31, 1930 to Joseph and Sally (Kuyava) Kendzora. He spent his early years on the farm in Hermantown, Minn. and moved to the "west end" in the eighth grade. He graduated from Denfeld High School in 1948. He served his country as a medic in Okinawa during the Korean War. Johnny married the love of his life, Carole Repensky, on May 29, 1954. They recently celebrated 61 years of marriage. He was employed as a meat cutter for National Tea and Mount Royal Fine Foods. John and Carole raised their family in Cloquet, Minn. before moving to Duluth in 1982. Johnny loved spending time in the cabin he built on Torchlight Lake. He also enjoyed reading, taking long walks in the woods, and attending all of his grandchildren's activities. He was preceded in death by his brother Wallace and sister Genevieve Musolf. John is survived by his wife Carole; daughter and son-in-law Nancy and David Rectenwald; son Joseph (Kelly); grandchildren Hayley (Brian) Rasmussen, Nicholas and Joseph; sister Dorothy Frones; beloved twin sister Joanne Pasek; brother Joseph "Chuck" (Mary) Kendzora; many nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend Rod Ridgewell. The family would like to thank the staff at the Willows Unit for their unending kindness and the respect they showed to John. VISITATION: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral mass Tuesday, Aug. 18, at St. Lawrence Church, Duluth. Lunch will follow in the church social hall.
