Obituary of Mabel E. Laiti

Mabel E. (Pavlisich) Laiti, 83, longtime resident of Duluth passed away peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015, with family at her side, while at the Chris Jensen Health and Rehabilitation. She was born on Feb. 1932 to Jack and Mabel Pavlisich. Mabel spent most of her school years in Ely, graduating from Clover Valley High School. On Dec. 31, 1951, she married Theodore Laiti. She worked for many years as a merchandizer for Maurice's Clothing Store. Mabel loved spending time with her grandkids. She was talented in needle punch, quilting and crocheting Afghans; making many for her family and friends. She especially enjoyed crocheting dolls and knitting. Her children never ran out of mittens. She enjoyed skiing, walking, volleyball, polka dancing, class reunions with her Ely friends and her Saturday shopping day. Mabel was preceded in death by her loving husband, Theodore Laiti; her parents, Jack and Mabel Pavlisich, and a brother, Ernie Pavlisich. She is survived by her children, Thomas (Cyndy) of Duluth, Sandra (Paul) Olson of New Hope, Minn., Dean of Fridley, Minn., Robert (Char) of Duluth and Linda Sutherland of Proctor; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Jake (Helen) Pavlisich and Donald Pavlisich all of Duluth; sisters, Doris Barry of Hastings, Minn., and Sharon (Jerry) Johnson of Land O'Lakes, Minn.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
