Obituary of Gerald Warren Gothard

Gerald Warren Gothard, 77, of Hibbing, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015. He was born Jan. 29, 1938, to Walter J. and Leona (Cousineau) Gothard in Hibbing. Gerry worked as a private investigator in his early career in Chicago Ill, where he met his wife Anne. They returned to Minnesota to raise their family in Meadowlands. He retired as a chief operating engineer at the University of Minnesota, Duluth and devoted his retirement to enjoying life to its fullest. He was a Charter member of MUNG Industries of Hibbing Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Walter and sister-in-law Lorena Gothard; and brother-in-law Clarence (Butch) Scofield. He is survived by his wife Anne Gothard of Hibbing; daughter Laura Korpi and son-in-law Joel Korpi; son Frank Gothard and daughter in-law Julie Nelson; granddaughter Caitlin Korpi; sister Donna Scofield; brother William Gothard and sister-in-law Bernie Gothard; brothers- in-law Richard and Edward Banbury; sister-in-law Judi Gothard and many close nephews, nieces and cousins. CELEBRATION OF LIFE: 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015 at Laura and Joel's home at 4059 Jackpine Drive, Eveleth, MN 55734 in honor of his colorful life. As per Gerry's wishes, there will be no funeral services. The family requests no flowers or memorials. Fond memories and stories are welcome.
