Obituary of Christopher William Hakel

Christopher William Hakel, 25, of Golden Valley, passed away August 26th, 2015. Born in Minneapolis on May 7th, 1990, Christopher was inquisitive, spiritual and caring. He earned an Associates of Arts degree from North Hennepin Community College where he graduated with honors and was actively engaged in many activities. He had a great passion for tutoring/mentoring new NHCC students and volunteering in the TRIO program. He enjoyed learning, nature, camping, soccer, bike rides and donuts. Preceded in death by great-grandparents Hazel and Orville Payne, Arnie Beltz, Millie Carswell, Milton and Emily Hakel and step-grandfathers Dan Keniston Sr. and John Jones. Survived by parents Amy (Dan) Keniston and Dan (Joni) Hakel; siblings Sarah Hakel, Tia & Tanya May, Tara (Rick) Bergfalk; nieces Hazel Ava & Samantha; nephew Adrian; grandparents Julie (Payne) Tyler, Bill Tyler, Lee Hakel, Marcia (Nick) Capra, Norma Jones and Vicki Keniston; aunt Elizabeth Tyler and uncle Rob (Priscilla) Hakel; adored cousin Samantha and many other cousins, family members and friends. Visitation at 10AM followed by memorial service at 11AM, August 31st at Elim Lutheran Church, 3978 West Broadway Ave, Robbinsdale, MN 55422. Luncheon to follow service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to NHCC Foundation, Attn: TRIO, 7411 85th Ave N, Brooklyn Park, MN 55445. Collections will be also accepted by family at service.
