Obituary of Benjamin H. Gowen

Gowen, Benjamin H. Age 91, of Excelsior, passed away August 31, 2015. He served in WWII in the US Navy as a flight mechanic. In 1946 was employed by Northwest Orient Airlines as a Flight Engineer in Minneapolis, followed by Seattle, WA and Tokyo, Japan. Later employed by Southern Air Transport/ Air America serving throughout the orient. Upon retirement he returned with his wife Hideko to his family homestead, Gowen's Gardens in Excelsior, founded by his mother, where he continued the family flower business. Survived by his wife, Hideko; son, Terry W. Palmer; daughter, Shari Kay Lakin; as well as nieces, nephews, and many friends. He will be remembered with great fondness. Memorial gathering Thursday, Sept 10, 5-8 PM at Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Ave S Edina. Memorials preferred to the donor's favorite veteran's organization.
