Obituary of Rose Marie Ostby

Rose was the mother of three sons, one daughter and grandmother to three grandchildren. Rose was a woman of faith, she was passionate about understanding the word of God and was actively involved in the Assembly of God church for many years. Rose spent most of her life as a stay-at-home mother caring for her children and husband. She worked briefly as a Telephone Operator in Fairbanks Alaska when she and her family moved there in the mid 70’s to help to build the Trans-Alaska pipeline. She and her husband were ardent supporters of the PTL club, they moved to Charlotte North Carolina in the late 70’s when her husband Arlo was offered a job to help build Heritage USA which was an American Christian theme park for Jim and Tammy Baker and the PTL club. While in Charlotte, she volunteered her time on the PTL prayer lines in the television studios helping others find the love of God and changing their lives forever. Rose always supported her children and grandchildren through difficult times even when others had given up. She would go without if she could assist one of her children or grandchildren, always putting others first. This was just intrinsic, part of her caregiver disposition. She offered what she had to those in need as she was very compassionate and caring of others. Preceded in death by: Husband Arlo Ostby, Father William Flannery, Mother Marion Flannery, Sisters Delores, Joanne, Patsy, Gloria and Brother Tim. Survived by: Sons Rick McGuire (Jo Anne), Rodney Beach (Pam), Arlo Ostby (Kari), Daughter Michelle Erickson (Jason), Grandchildren Joshua Ostby, Danielle Beach, Christopher Beach, Andrew Erickson, and Derrick Miller, Sister Judy Poole (Jerry) Rose was married to Arlo Ostby, her husband of 32 years who passed in 2003 leaving her a widow. She has missed him dearly and finally they will be reunited in heaven. We will find comfort in that fact that she is finally at peace and with God. Rose Ostby will be missed, and always remembered. Memorial Service Thursday, September 10, 2015, 3:00 pm at Mt. Olivet Assembly of God Church, 14201 Cedar Avenue South, Apple Valley. Visitation one hour before service. More details to follow.
