Obituary of Keith L. Flom
Keith L. Flom, 85, of Edina, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 4, 2015 after a short illness.
Keith was born August 2, 1930 in Devils Lake, ND to Chris C. and Martha (Nygard) Flom. Keith spent his early years in Devils Lake before moving with his family in 1941 to Grand Forks, ND. He attended Grand Forks public schools and graduated from Grand Forks Central High School in 1949. Keith served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He married Joan H. (Weber) Flom in 1956 while attending the University of North Dakota, and graduated from UND in 1959 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. After graduating, Keith and Joan moved to the Twin Cities, where he took a job with the UNIVAC Division of Sperry Rand (now Unisys) Corporation. Keith worked for Unisys Corporation for over 35 years before retiring in 1995.
Keith loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He looked forward to pheasant hunting each fall in South Dakota and Nebraska. He was also an aviation enthusiast and attended EAA AirVenture Oshkosh each summer for many years.
Keith was preceded in death by Joan, the love of his life and wife of 54 years, along with five brothers and sisters. He is survived by a brother, Dale, of Riverside, CA, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family would like to thank Fairview Southdale Hospital, Martin Luther Care Center, and Fairview Hospice for their support and loving care of Keith.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Ave. S., Edina, MN (952-924-4100). Interment, at a later date, will be with Joan at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Animal Humane Society or the Salvation Army.
