Obituary of Ronald E. Carlson

Ronald E. Carlson of Annandale died Tuesday, September 15, 2015, of a very aggressive lung cancer.Ron was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1942 to Carl and Frances (Walheim) Carlson. He spent his youth in Sioux Falls and attended Bethel College in Minneapolis and then graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, where he met his future wife Ruth Nordell. After marrying on June 18, 1966, Ron and Ruth lived in Madison, Wisconsin where Ron earned his MS and PhD degrees in Mathematics and Accounting.Ron and Ruth moved to St. Cloud in 1972. Ron was a Professor of Accounting at St. Cloud State University for 38 years. He also wrote and presented accounting standards updates and was a well-respected educator for the MN Society of CPAs, the AICPA, and numerous accounting firms.In 2000, Ron and Ruth moved to their lake home on Lake Sylvia near Annandale. Ron was proud to be able to provide the lake places for his family. He was incredibly grateful to enjoy his last years living in such beauty.Ron is survived by his wife Ruth; daughters Emily (Clear Lake) and Lydia (Minnea-polis); sons-in-law Adam Goenner and Les Harrison; grandchildren Jacob, Carl, Will and Mark Goenner (Clear Lake) and Jude and Claire Harrison (Minneapolis); brother Marvin (Garland, Texas). He was preceded in death by his parents.Service 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 19, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 4310 County Road 137, St. Cloud, MN 56301. Visitation one hour prior to service at church. Memorials are preferred to the Lake Sylvia Peninsula Association. -
