Obituary of Ingeborg Maria Victoria Cici

Ingeborg Maria Victoria, (Zuckriegl) Cici 89, formerly residing in Maple Grove, MN, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Inge was currently living at St. Therese, New Hope. She is survived by her children, Julia P. Cici, Alexandra M. Hunz-Ortman, Michele Cici (Chris), Michael P. Cici (Michele) and Christine Cici-Cates (Jeff); 10 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her former spouse, Pandeli M. Cici; mother, Theresa Whitehair (Zuckriegl). Inge was born in Vienna, Austria on May 17, 1926. A young woman during the Nazi Occupation in Austria, Inge had many stories of how this affected her family and friends during that time. She graduated in 1944 as a kindergarten teacher in Vienna and taught there until 1949 when she and her husband immigrated to the United States. First living in Omaha, NE with their sponsors until settling in Hopkins, MN and Minnetonka, and finally in Maple Grove, MN. Inge was always the mother, teacher, leader and adventurer with her family. Never leaving her beloved Austria behind, she was able to travel back in the 1970’s and several times after to visit and have reunions with her relatives and friends in Vienna. After raising 5 children, Inge obtained her daycare teachers license and worked at Golden Hours in N. Mpls. and then opened Busy Beaver Daycare in Wayzata in 1976 where she was teacher and director until 1995 selling the business and retiring. She volunteered for many things over the years including running the youth group for Trail Dusters Saddle Club in Hamel and a tutor volunteer for WISE (Women in Service for Education) in the Minneapolis School District for 6 years. She also continued to work after retirement at the Robin Child Care, in Robbinsdale and she volunteered as a tutor at the Osseo School District (Elm Creek Elementary). She was involved in her German Club, working at keeping her German fluent and enjoying the sharing of memories and fun. She loved the arts including the opera and symphony. Inge was regarded by her peers, students and her children as caring, conscientious, and persevering. Her philosophy in life was: “Tell me, I forget, Show me, I remember, Involve me, I understand”. Inge never shied away from involvement or commitment. Inge was an outspoken, determined woman with a warm loving heart and will be missed by her family and friends. A funeral mass will be on Wed., October 21, 2015 at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 9100 93rd Ave, N. Brooklyn Park, MN 55445. Visitation 10-11am, Mass 11am, and lunch to follow mass and interment follows lunch. Cremation Society of MN (952-924-4100).
