James “Jim” Emmet Hanrahan, age 86 of St. Paul, MN passed away September 18, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born December 25, 1928 in St. Paul, Minnesota at St. Joseph Hospital. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1946. On April 18, 1949 Jim married Joyce Bernadine Platzer at Assumption Catholic Church in St. Paul, MN. They raised 9 children together in Bloomington, MN. Jim worked for Northern States Power as a lineman before retiring in 1991 at age 62. Hardworking and active even into his later years he was a natural born handyman and avid fisherman. In addition to traveling Jim enjoyed golf, playing card games and watching the Minnesota Vikings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmet and Katherine Hanrahan; sons, Michael Hanrahan and Keith Hanrahan and his brother, Thomas Hanrahan.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Joyce; one sibling, Margaret Hermeling; 7 children, 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Services will be held Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 7-9pm at Cremation Society of MN, 4343 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis, MN. A private family interment will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 in Bloomington, MN. The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff of The Pines Senior and Assisted Living for their dedication. Donations should go to Struthers Parkinsons’s Center or Catholic Charities.
