Obituary of Jerome Wallace Pitmon

Jerome W. Pitmon, passed away following a brief illness at the age of 91 on May 3, 2018 in Rochester, MN. Jerry was born in Kasota, MN on September 5, 1926 to Lewis and Lorraine Pitmon. He graduated from St. Peter High School. Jerry enlisted in the Navy and served in both WWII and the Korean Conflict. He married Marjorie Menk on September 18, 1949. They were married for 62 years. Jerry worked for the U.S. Postal Service in St. Peter, MN for 35 years. He was an avid outdoors man. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, wife and nephew. Survivors include his sister, Ruth Moore, children, Nancy (John) Gunderson, Kim Pitmon, Polly Shelley, and Peggy (Doug) Olmanson, 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and niece. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Minnesota Conservation Volunteer, Live Well Fitness Center, St. Peter River's Edge Hospital, or Kasota Hill Cemetery. In Jerry's memory, please feed the birds and take time to smell the roses. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 29, at Saint Peter Lutheran Church, 427 W. Mulberry St., St. Peter, MN. Visitation one hour prior to service. A private graveside service will be held at Kasota Hill Cemetery.
