Obituary of Donna Sue Allen

Donna Sue (Chesebro) Allen, of Duluth, devoted wife and beloved mother and grandmother passed away in her home on Oct. 11, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born on Oct. 2, 1930 in Richland Center, Wis. She graduated from Birchwood High School in 1949. She obtained an R.N. degree from Ancker Hospital in 1952 and moved to Duluth in 1953. She married her husband Frank in 1956 and raised three children. After many years of nursing and providing care to others she retired from Lakeshore Lutheran Home in 1995. Donna enjoyed reading, watching her grandchildren grow, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Glen Avon Church and the MN Nurses Association. She was preceded in death by her parents Lola (Harry) Lutes, Thomas (Lucille) Chesebro, and her loving husband Frank in 1987. She is survived by her children Joe (Mary), Sue (Mark) Gornik, Sally (Mike) Skiba; grandchildren Katie, Alyssa (Gabe), Christopher, Samantha, Bryce, Nathan and Mikayla; sister, Janie Fahy; her special friends Terry, Barb, Marilyn, and extended family. Donna was inspiring, kind-hearted, and a caring mother, grandmother, and friend. She touched the lives and hearts of many and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to thank Dr. Knutsen, Dr. Rich, Dr. McNaney, and Essentia In-Home Hospice staff for their care and support. Per Donna's request no service will be held. A private family burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery.
