Obituary of Ronald W. Swanson
Ronald W. Swanson, of Lake Minnesuing, Wis., died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth.
Ron was born July 25, 1935 in Duluth to Hilda and Walfred Swanson.
He graduated from Denfeld High School in 1953. Ron was a member of MN Air National Guard, 148th Fighter Group, and also worked full-time in personnel, retiring as supervisor with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He was also an ambulance driver and paramedic for Wilcol.
Ron enjoyed living at the lake and spending time with family and friends. He was a great and generous friend to many, always willing to lend a helping hand, cook delicious meals, and gift others with beautiful cookie trays at the holidays. His beautiful yard, flowers and feeders kept the birds happy and numerous charities were the recipients of his generosity. Ron was a loving and devoted caregiver to his partner of many years, Muriel Martinson.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Harriet; brother-in-law, Lyle Swor; and Muriel.
Ron is survived by his sisters, Shirley (Lloyd) Tillman and Elaine Swor; nieces and nephews, Gary (Marilyn) Tillman, Cheryl (Brady) Reed, Brian (Sandra) Swor, and Leslee (Greg) Pierce; Muriel's niece and close friend, Jane Pederson; and many other dear friends.
GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. celebration of Ron's life Thursday, Oct. 29, in the Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel, 4100 Grand Ave., Duluth. In Ron's memory, memorials suggested to the charity of your choice or to Animal Allies, in memory of his beloved poodle, Happy.
