Obituary of Marlin Martin Olson

OLSON, Marlin, age 84, of Big Lake, Minnesota, passed away on October 19, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his three sisters, Dorothy, Betty, and Donna; parents, Harry Olson and Ida (Mondahl); brother in-law, Robert (Shirley) Schlesinger; sister in-law, Kay (Stephen) Sieg. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 53 years, Darlene; children, Scott, Sheila, Sam (Mary); grandchildren; great grandchildren; brother, Robert of Fairmont; sister in-law, Carol (Mike) Connery of Florida; many beloved nieces, nephews, and good friends. Marlin was born October 7, 1931 and grew up in Fairmont, Minnesota and moved to Big Lake, Minnesota in 1971 where he worked at Big Lake Petersons Amoco for many years. Marlin coached many softball and baseball players and genuinely loved the community and the people. He played softball for many years, loved to bowl, and whenever he could, got out for a good game of golf. He will always be remembered and known lovingly as the “Old Fart with a toothpick”. Services on 11AM Friday, October 23rd at Saron Lutheran Church, 311 Lake Street S., Big Lake with private interment. Visitation at church 1 hour before.
