Obituary of Frances R. Addington
Frances R. Addington, age 86, of Minnetonka. Artist, poet, writer, cartoonist extraordinaire, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, eternal optimist, stepped into the great mystery on All Saints Day, November 1, 2015. If she ever felt sorry for herself, she never showed it. She always had a way of letting you know that everything would be all right. You could count on her to have a poem written for every occasion, happy and sad, poignant or funny, usually both. She was funny, creative, always helpful, generous, adventurous. She tended to her grandchildren when they were small, then continued to be there for them in every way possible as they grew up, providing encouragement, shelter, advice and wisdom. She was a good companion and partner to her husband, John, and a non-judgmental mother to all of us, being there for us whenever we needed her, without complaint. We know she is now free of pain and suffering and with our loved ones who have gone before. Preceded in death by husband John Addington and grandson Duncan Smith. Survived by children Carol Whitman and Susan, Barbara, and Rebecca Addington, grandchildren Connie, Aidan and John Smith, brother John Redfield and sister Eva Rubin. Services Sun., Nov. 15, 2 pm at First Universalist Church of Minneapolis, 3400 Dupont Ave. S. Memorials preferred to the family.
